EXTERIOR SIDING

We offer our material milled into a variety of species, textures, and edge profiles to be used as exterior siding. Whether you are looking for a rustic or a contemporary application, please inquire about your options with our knowledgeable staff. Prices will vary depending the material used and profile selected.

ORIGINAL RUSTIC EDGE

We often provide our vintage wood planking to be used as exterior siding with the original edges intact. This will provide the most rustic appearance out of all of our exterior siding options. Each board may vary slightly in thickness and will not be remilled perfectly straight. We recommend installing this type of wood siding over sleepers on the outside of the building to allow water to drain and the wood to dry out when rained on. To receive a quote, please specify which one of our planking products you wish to use.

STRAIGHT EDGED – “BUTT JOINT”

We also provide our vintage wood planking to be used as exterior siding with the edges milled straight and square. This will provide a less rustic appearance and be easier to install than our original edge option as each board will be straight and calibrated to the same width. We recommend installing this type of wood siding over sleepers on the outside of the building to allow water to drain and the wood to dry out when rained on. To receive a quote, please specify which one of our planking products you wish to use.

TONGUE AND GROOVE

One of the most popular exterior siding profile we offer is the tongue and groove. A tongue and groove profile is created when we cut a groove down one edge of each board and a “tongue” or small strip the protrudes out of the other edge. The tongue and groove interlock into each other from one board to the next and are created to keep moisture from getting behind each board after installation as well as keeping each board from lifting away from the next. Typically milled to a 3/4″ thickness, the wood can be installed either vertically or horizontally and can be “blind nailed” so you don’t see any fasteners. To receive a quote, please specify which one of our planking products you wish to use.

SHIPLAP

One of the most popular exterior siding profile we offer is shiplap. A shiplap profile means that the pieces are cut so that the edge of one board overlaps the next one adjacent to it while still remaining a flat surface. This helps to keep water from getting behind the boards after installation. Typically milled to a 3/4″ thickness, this profile is typically installed horizontally. BEVELED SHIPLAP

We also offer a beveled shiplap pattern. Similar to the way that a standard shiplap is milled to overlap the adjacent boards, a beveled shiplap is also milled at an angle to give the appearance of overlapping boards while offering the benifit of installing flat on the back side. Typically milled to a 3/8″ thickness at the top edge and 1 1/4″ thickness at the bottom edge, this profile is meant to be installed horizontally. BOARD AND BATTEN

Board and batten siding is a classic old-school look and is achieved by installing wide boards on the building and overlapping the seams with smaller pieces to help keep water from getting behind the boards. Depending on what planking product you may choose, we often need to rip the edges of the battens to size, meaning the edges will be lighter in color and need to be doctored on site. Typically milled to a 3/4″ thickness, this profile is meant to be installed vertically. To receive a quote, please specify which one of our planking products you wish to use.
