Reclaimed Wood Beams Re-Milled To Reveal Fresh Wood With Character
Reclaimed Douglas fir – Remilled Options
Our reclaimed Douglas Fir beams can be “re-milled” to specifications and to remove the original, aged surface – revealing fresh wood and creating a more uniform, customizable appearance. This process allows for precise sizing across a wide range of dimensions, making it an ideal option for projects requiring consistency throughout a set.
Beams can be left with a natural band-sawn texture, lightly cleaned to reduce surface fuzz, or fully sanded for a smooth, refined finish. While the surface is freshly milled in this process, each beam retains the underlying character of reclaimed wood – including nail holes, seasoning checks, and old-growth grain variation.
This material combines the visual flexibility of new lumber with the performance benefits of stable, reclaimed wood —featuring dense, old-growth grain and naturally dry, stable timber suited for both structural and decorative applications. Hollow box beams are also available in this appearance.

In the Shop & In the Home
To acheive the 4' spring in this arch, we cut a single reclaimed Douglas fir into thin veneers and glued it up over an arched form in the same order they were milled to get the grain to line up like it had been steam bent.
After glue up it was remilled to a consistent thickness. 8 of this were fabricated in our shop before shipping them out to New York for some incredible truss bottom chords.
